Army Personnel Undergo Surprise Drug Test at Balingasag Power Station

Balingasag, Misamis Oriental – Ninety-one personnel from the 1st Misamis Oriental Cafgu Active Category II (CAA II), under Delta Company, 58th Infantry Battalion (58IB), 4th Infantry Division (4ID), Philippines Army, along with their six regular cadre members, underwent a surprise random drum test on January 24, 2025. The test was conducted at the Hqs. 1st MOCAAC II, Minergy Power Corporation – Balingasag Power Station Complex, Brgy. Mandangoa, Balingasag, Mis. Or. Where the auxiliary soldiers serve as the security component.

The initiative aimed to ensure the continued integrity and professionalism of the security personnel safeguarding the critical infrastructure. The drum test was facilitated by the Health Check Diagnostic Clinic, a Depart of Health (DOH) affiliated facility based in Cagayan de Oro City.

This random drug testing is a crucial measure to maintain the high standards of discipline and readiness among our troops, “stated a spokesperson from the 58IB. “We are committed to ensuring that our personnel are drug-free and capable of fulfilling their duties effectively, especially in securing vital installations like the Balingasag Power Station.”

The results of the drug test were not immediately released. Military officials emphasized that any personnel found to be using illegal substance would face appropriate disciplinary actions, in accordance with the regulations of the Armed Forces of the Philippines.
The company also proudly joined the annual civic-military parade, a fiesta highlight showcasing unity and local pride. MPC employees marched in solidarity, proudly representing the company’s continued support for Balingasag’s traditions and collective spirit.

The Minergy Power Corporation expressed its support for the initiative, highlighting the importance of a reliable and drug-free security force in protecting their operations. “The safety and security of our facility is paramount,” a company representative stated. “We commend the Philippines Army for their proactive approach in maintaining the integrity of their personnel.
